Brückenlegepanzer 1 Biber
German bridge layer
Brückenlegepanzer 1 Biber is a German AVLB based on the Leopard 1 chassie with two-piece 22-meter-long tactical bridge carried stacked on the vehicle.
Development started in the late 1960s/early 1970s to replace older M48-based bridgelayers, which used more visible scissor-type bridges. Prototypes were tested in 1969, with production (105 vehicles + extra bridges) contracted in 1971 and delivered from 1973–1975 by Maschinenbau Kiel (MaK).
