M902 Launching Station (Generation 2)

As the U.S. Army developed the PAC-3 missile—a clean-sheet design that was much smaller and lighter than the PAC-2—the launcher needed an upgrade to take advantage of the smaller footprint. The M902 was introduced to support this new technology.

  • Missile Compatibility: PAC-2 family AND the PAC-3 CRI (Cost Reduction Initiative) missiles.
  • Capacity:
    • 4x PAC-2 missiles (1 per canister) OR
    • 16x PAC-3 CRI missiles. The PAC-3 missiles are loaded into "quad-packs" (4 missiles per canister), allowing the launcher to hold four canisters for a total of 16 interceptors.
  • Advancement: This variant quadrupled the firepower of a single launcher when equipped with PAC-3s, drastically improving the battery's ability to defend against saturation attacks by ballistic missiles.
