M903
M903 Launching Station (Generation 3)
The *M903 is the most modern and flexible launcher currently in service. It was developed to accommodate the PAC-3 MSE (Missile Segment Enhancement), which features a larger dual-pulse rocket motor and extended range compared to the standard PAC-3. Because the MSE is slightly larger, it required a redesigned launcher configuration.
Missile Compatibility: PAC-2 family, PAC-3 CRI, PAC-3 MSE, and the newer SkyCeptor (PAAC-4) missiles. Capacity: The M903 is highly reconfigurable and allows for "mixed loads" on the same launcher. It can carry:
- Up to 4x PAC-2 missiles
- Up to 16x PAC-3 CRI missiles
- Up to 12x PAC-3 MSE missiles (MSEs are single-packed into slightly larger individual canisters, allowing 3 canisters per quadrant).
- Mixed Loadouts: For example, a single M903 can be loaded with 6x PAC-3 MSEs and 8x PAC-3 CRIs simultaneously.
Advancement: The M903 gives commanders ultimate tactical flexibility, allowing them to tailor a single launcher's loadout to specific mission requirements—mixing long-range blast-fragmentation missiles (PAC-2) with highly agile, hit-to-kill ballistic missile interceptors (PAC-3/MSE) The Defense Post.
